Guess who I saw tonight?

Here's a hint: he was hot in the 1970s. And 1980s.

No, not Sting.

It was

OK, it looked more like

(I'll bet there are people out there who still haven't figured it out. Losers.)

This is for the smart people: OK, he's not as supple, and his jumps have lost a lot of height, but he's still amazing. And he hasn't gained an ounce. He even has all his hair.

  1. I love Baryshnikov! (spelling???) His dancing is amazing and he doesn't look gross in tights. Lucky you!!

  2. I am so jealoius! I was in love with him as a teenager in the 80s. I even watched and bought the soundtrack to White Nights! What a thrill!

  5. Um, exactly how did you determine he was less supple?

  6. Good grief, man's still got it! Lucky you to get to see that. Isn't he doing more modern dance now instead of classical ballet?

  9. He's not hot now? Jumping around in all those clothes? Hell, walking upstairs in muggy weather makes me shvitz like Jabba the Hutt taking a sauna.

  10. bb: Maybe in Russian?

Joke: It was a combination of memory and contrasting his movements with the guys on the stage. The ones who are 40 years younger than he is.

Jennifer: Yes, this was Hell's Kitchen, and they do modern.

    Suzanne: Hell's Kitchen.

Echo: He was hot--metaphorically. But they AC'd the theater to keep him from shvitzing. And from triggering hot flashes in his fan base.

  11. Wait--you meant "hot" not in the literal sense? This explains something I've been confused about for years. When we saw "Titanic," my wife kept saying how hot Leo was. But he seemed so cold in the water! And she keeps telling her friends how hot the mailman is, no matter what the weather is like--neither snow nor rain. But now I wonder if she was referring to something else.

Must be one of those literary tricks you English majors use.

  12. He is yummy. So unfair that some men get to be yummy when they get older. I just feel... older.

  13. AND he was a total dick to Carrie in SATC and almost got a knuckle sandwich from Mr. Big!

  14. Oh, Susie--you SATC-watching scamp! Don't you know you're supposed to be watching Desperate Housewives?
