That movie meme

Hey, when you do Blog365, you have your up days and your down days. Today's a down day. You're getting a meme.

And I'm too lazy to cut and paste the instructions I saw on blackbird and badger's blogs. It's something like: read these quotes, identify the movies, don't use IMDB or Google. As the movies are identified, I cross out the quotation and reveal the name of the cinematic genius who figured it out first.

Here they are:

1. Everybody in the world has Frampton Comes Alive. If you lived in the suburbs you were issued it. It came in the mail with samples of "Tide". Sarah O knows her Wayne's World 2!

2. The cha cha is no more ridiculous than life itself.

3. Hey, would you mind putting that gun away? My wife doesn't care, but I'm a very timid fellow.

4. There's no basement in the Alamo! has been outed by c in dc as from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

5. I don't use a pen. I write with a goose quill dipped in venom. has been correctly identified as Waldo Lydaecker's line from Laura by raed.

6. I want everything I've ever seen in the movies!

7. Someone, tell a joke... Teachergirl nailed it. It was the grandfather in Moonstruck.

8. Tito Puente's gonna be dead, and you're gonna say, "Oh, I've been listening to him for years, and I think he's fabulous." Anonymous got it: Bill Murray in Stripes.

9. You're rather attractive for a beautiful girl with a great body.

10. Outside, countess. As long as they've got sidewalks YOU'VE got a job.

p.s. Bonus quotation in my labels

  1. Everyone is doing this movie meme lately, and I have not been able to identify one single quote. I knew I was out of it, but I didn't really want proof.

  2. #1 is from some Wayne's World movie. Is that close enough?

    OK, I'll toss a coin. It's heads! Wayne's World 2!

    Eh?

  3. Is #2 from Shall We Dance?
    or maybe Dirty Dancing...

I know #7, just can't remember its name. Which I know, kinda defeats the purpose.

  5. Good Morning, Poppissima!

I'm pretty sure that #3 (and possibly #10?) is from one of the "Thin Man" films and that #5 is Waldo Lydecker's quip from "Laura".

  6. #4 is from the Pee Wee Herman movie. I think the name of it is "Pee Wee's Big Adventure".

I only know this because DH insisted on asking the nice docent at the Alamo about the basement when we visited. The docent managed not to give a snarky response, for which he received full credit.

  7. #8 is from Stripes. Bill Murray to the girlfriend who is about to walk out on him.

  8. #7 is from Moonstruck. The old grandpa says it while they are sitting around the kitchen table while everyone is waiting for Johnny Camarari to show up.

  9. #9 - It sounded familiar and lo and behold, while procrastinating/watching Caddyshack this afternoon, Chevy Chase said it to Ted Knight's niece.

  10. Well, I am hella horrible with titles and names, but I know #11. It's a movie with Joan Blondell and James Cagney and Cagney plays a musical producer of shows that run in movie theaters before the movies, and Blondell is the secretary. And Blondell's gold-digging friend nabs Cagney, whom Blondell has a crush on, and Blondell says this line when she throws the gold-digger (Glenda Farrell?) out of the apartment one night because Cagney has to come up with a show even though he's three sheets to the wind.

But I can't think of the name to save my life, unless I cheat :(
