Final thoughts on hair dye

It seems to me that I opened a bit of a can of worms by posting about coloring gray hair, so I thought I'd add some afterthoughts.

Like feminism, hair color is about choices.

There is so much pressure on women to continue to look young and hot by any means possible, and that's just wrong. We have a few other things on our minds, OK? I mean, even I do, and I blog about lipstick.

Here's the deal: since the majority of women are now coloring their hair, chances are that if you think you look great with gray hair, you do. So enjoy it.

But if you do choose to color your hair, please--I'm begging you--don't do it like a rock star:

And does that last picture make anyone else think of the old Sesame Street song? "Three of these things belong together / three of these things are kind of the same ..."

  1. OMG! This was soooo funny. Love it.
    Thanks for the post.

  2. You are such a high tech mama! I'm jealous...hey, can you start techno mommy camps, at your house for a weekend.

Throw in a "your best color palette" and I'll pay handsomely.

I LOVE your "you might like" at the bottom. It works...after this comment, I'm going back to read about Lourdes...

  3. This also just confirmed how much of a fucking hottie Charlie Watts is and will always be.

  4. Charlie is the only one that looks like an adult. And I would absolutely pay for a weekend called "Prettier with Poppy!"

  5. Agreed about Charlie Watts--he looks great. And he dresses really well, too. He's a superb musician and an all-around gentleman.

But I don't want his hair.

On the other hand, I have a recurrent nightmare where I look into my bathroom mirror, and Ronnie Woods looks back.

  6. I will take on where you left off next week... Ron Wood is a total loser. His ex Jo is the nicest person around and I don't know how she put up with him and his drinking. Every time I saw the guy, he was four sheets to the wind. Anyway, off topic. Loved your hair articles. Thisisjasmine, you are too funny...Mick is really hot I think. What a bod!

  7. It is all about choice.

I would love to have Charlie Watts hair, but none of the Stones' faces!

  8. Haha -- so true! I find that softer, more natural looking colors (especially with both high and lowlights rather than a solid color) truly are more flattering on me as I get older, as much as I love severe black and outrageous brights.
